I converted my Ford Fusion Hybrid to reduce my consumption of petroleum and to reduce our nation’s dependency on imports. I drive 20-40,000 miles each year and it is a mix of city and highway. My last car was a Gen 1 Prius and I loved it. But I REALLY love my Ford Fusion Hybrid!

As an electric utility that serves most of Minnesota, we’re very excited about plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Great River Energy has four plug-in retrofitted company hybrid vehicles which are made available to our employees for meeting with our member retail distribution cooperatives and attending various meetings throughout Minnesota.

My converted Prius is not only a passenger car; with the simple hitch and trailer it is my work truck, snow plow, and an all around utility vehicle. Since I charge my batteries with solar panels – both at home and at the office – I know I am doing my part to make a difference, but it wouldn’t be possible without innovative companies like ReGo Electric Conversions.

Why did ReGo choose to convert? Because the technology exists, we had the expertise to make it happen and because we were sick and tired of waiting for Toyota to do it on their own! In fact, as a bunch of environmental and social activists, we are such fans of Electric Conversions, we started the business together!

I converted my Prius to a plug-in electric hybrid as soon as ReGo was ready to do the work. I bought my first Prius the first year they were available because I wanted the most fuel efficient car I could get. I was thrilled to hear about ReGo’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the creation of green jobs in our community.

In 2010 we read of a company that was offering a new Prius conversion for under $5000. The article showed Mayor Rybak of Minneapolis driving one and congratulating Shayna Berkowitz and Alex Danovitch the entrepreneurial owners ReGo Electric Conversions. We were sold. We had the work done, and have been benefiting from (at least partially) “kicking gas” since.
